Rice yield increased by 20~70% with SRI

“System of Rice Intensification (SRI)” has been introduced to Cambodian farms by Government and NGOs.

Based on SRI International Network and Resources Center, Cornell University,  the benefits of introducing SRI methods are

  • 20%-100% or more increased yields
  • Up to a 90% reduction in required seed
  • Up to 50% water savings

Field study by U-Tokyo researchers was held in two areas in 2011.

  1. Irrigated areas (Kampong Speu Province)
  2. Non-irrigated areas (Takeo Province)

And they checked that SRI contributed +20%~+70% yield for each areas.
